The Oberammergau Passion Play is the world's most famous passion play. In a performance lasting several hours, the villagers of Oberammergau re-enact the last five days in the life of Jesus. The Passion Play was first performed in 1634 as a redemption of a vow after surviving the plague. Since 1680, a ten-yearly rhythm has applied, usually in the last year of a decade. In the 21st century, the performance scheduled for 2020 had to be postponed to 2022 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
TOI TOI & DIXI has set up sanitary infrastructure directly in front of the festival theater and in front of each shuttle bus parking lot, so that it is not far to the quiet place and the guests can fully concentrate on the play.
